Aerospace Engineering Challenge

ESA 366 Engineering Challenge Seminar 3
Wednesday, 17 October 2018 - The third year students at the School of Aerospace Engineering attended a seminar called 'Aerospace Engineering Challenge'. This event was part of the joint effort from two courses attended by the third year students: Flight Performance (ESA 366) and Aircraft Aerodynamics (ESA 343).
The first invited speaker, an alumnus of the School from batch 2007, was Mr Shah Rizal Ahamad Sha who now works with the UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS). The main aim of the seminar was to provide a perspective from a working professional in aerospace engineering, particularly in the supply-chain industry. He is well-qualified to provide such a perspective, sharing his own experience working with UTAS for a number of years in the supply-chain industry for the Asian region. UTAS is part of the United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and is one of the world's largest suppliers, at the Tier 1 level, of aerospace and defense products. In his talk, he also shared his own career experience after graduating from USM.
We at the School of Aerospace Engineering would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Mr Shah Rizal for his generous contribution in sharing his professional experience with our students.
The second speaker of the seminar was Aiman Hakim Mohamed Zulmazi, our fourth year student who went through an internship program at UTAS for ten weeks in July to August of 2018 under the supervision of Mr Shah Rizal. In his talk, Aiman shared his experience as an intern for 10 weeks at UTAS to provide some perspective to the third year students of working as an intern there, and in choosing which companies to go to in their upcoming internship program. One highlight of working as an intern at UTAS, shared by Aiman, was that he was able to visit a number of other aerospace engineering companies who were the suppliers of parts and products to UTAS.
A group photo of the invited speakers, the lecturers of the courses, and all the third year students was captured at the end of the seminar as shown above.
