Philosophy and Objective

The Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace program is designed to meet the demand of the industry today. The program covers in detail principal knowledge in the aerospace profession. Students are also given practical learning and are given sample exposure to the real work situation; an effort in preparing them to face the challenges in this challenge profession.

The school's vision is to be the premier centre that generates and continuously supports a community of aerospace professionals that will spearhead and strengthen the development of aerospace and aerospace-related industries and institutions in Malaysia. To achieve this vision the school will carry out its mission to lead and innovate through high-quality knowledge and skills in aerospace engineering and through education and research for the development of human resources in the aerospace engineering field in Malaysia. In conjunction with the vision, the program educational objectives of the School of Aerospace Engineering are:

1. Excel in engineering practices in aerospace or other engineering industries.

2. Establish themselves as leaders in their professional careers.

3. Improve themselves continually through advanced degree programs or professional certifications.

These objectives are attainable as the program is designed to train students to possess the following attitudes:

01 Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science and engineering fundamental to solve complex engineering problems particularly in aerospace engineering.

02 Identify, formulate and analyse complex engineering problems to an extent of obtaining meaningful conclusions using principles of mathematics, science and engineering.

03 Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes to within the prescribed specifications relevant to Aerospace engineering with appropriate considerations for public health and safety, society and environmental impact.

04 Investigate complex Aerospace engineering problems using research-based knowledge and research methods to provide justified conclusions.

05 Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and computational tools to complex engineering problems with an understanding of the limitations.

06 Apply appropriate reasoning to assess contemporary societal, health, safety and legal issues to establish responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solutions to complex engineering problems.

07 Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of professional engineering work in the solutions of complex engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts.

08 Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.

09 Function successfully and efficiently as an individual, and as a member or leader in multi - disciplinary teams.

10 Communicate effectively both orally and in writing on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and society.

11 Apply knowledge and understanding of project management and finance to engineering projects.

12 Recognize the need for and is capable to undertake life-long learning in the broadest context of knowledge and technological change.

In fulfilling the school's curriculum and professional requirements, students are required to undergo industrial training in order to gain experience and exposure to professional engineering practice. The industrial training is a continuation of the Engineering Practises course which is offered and conducted by the school. The industrial training is conducted in a period of ten weeks at the selected aerospace industries premises or relevant industries
