USM Aerospace Engineering Hosts Strategic Engagement Session with Boeing Delegation

The School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), successfully hosted a strategic engagement meeting with a delegation from Boeing on 16 April 2026 (3:30 – 5:30 PM). The session brought together five representatives from Boeing alongside project members and the executive committee (Exco) of the School of Aerospace Engineering.

The meeting focused on several key agenda items, including program progress discussions on current grant-supported activities, reflections on implementation, and key updates related to ongoing initiatives. The session also explored future collaboration and engagement opportunities, including an initial discussion on potential support for upcoming activities in 2026.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the active involvement of Boeing Aerospace (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Boeing Composites Malaysia, reinforcing strong industry participation in academic initiatives. Both parties expressed interest in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, particularly in the development of future aerospace talent and hands-on learning programs.

The discussion also emphasized the flagship initiative, “Aerospace for the Nation” (AeroLEAD), a student-led outreach and career-connected learning program supported under the Boeing Higher Education Relations (HER) Grant. The project is spearheaded by a dedicated team comprising Dr. Aslina Anjang Ab Rahman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norizham Abdul Razak, Dr. Siti Harwani Md Yusoff, Dr. Nurul Musfirah Mazlan, Dr. ‘Aiffah Mohd Ali, and Mr. Zihad Mahmud.

This engagement marks an important step towards fostering meaningful collaboration between USM and Boeing, with the shared goal of enhancing aerospace education, strengthening industry relevance, and developing a sustainable pipeline of future-ready aerospace professionals.
