AeroMech'17 - CALL FOR PAPER

School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia invites all participants across the globe to attend the AeroMech’17 in Parkroyal Penang Resort, Penang, Malaysia on 21st – 22nd November 2017. AeroMech‘17 is an international podium to present the state of art research & development in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, while exchanging ideas, thoughts and information between the academia and industry. This year, our theme would be on “Recent Advancements and Innovations in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering”.

Conversation With Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman – Space Agenda of The United Nations

26 April 2017 was indeed a remarkable day for all the lecturers and students from USM, School of Aerospace Engineering. It is the day where we were proud enough to invite Datuk Dr Mazlan Othman, currently the Professor Emeritus of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to our school and talk about the Space Agenda of the United Nations (UN).

Datuk Dr. Mazlan Othman is the former director of United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA). She is Malaysia’s first astrophysicist and the first woman to be awarded a PhD in physics from University of Otago, New Zealand. She was the founding Director General of ANGKASA, the Malaysian National Space Agency where her work led to the launch of first Malaysian astronaut, Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor. Furthermore, she is a Senior Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia.

Karnival Warisan Budaya dan Teknologi, Seni dan Ekonomi Islam Penggerak Ummah

Pada 26 April 2017 yang lalu, kumpulan Aerial System Robotic (ASRO) telah dijemput untuk mengadakan pameran sempena Karnival Warisan Budaya dan Teknologi, Seni dan Ekonomi Islam Penggerak Ummah yang bertempat di SMKA Mahaad Al Mashor Al Islami Balik Pulau, Pulau Pinang. Pameran yang melibatkan 3 buah pesawat tanpa pemandu (UAV) atau lebih dikenali sebagai drone bertujuan memberi pendedahan dan pengetahuan kepada para pelajar berkaitan bidang robotik penerbangan, sistem kawalan dan aplikasi drone dalam pelbagai bidang seperti fotografi, ketenteraan, pemetaan, bantuan kecemasan dan sebagainya. Berdasarkan sambutan yang diterima, para pelajar dilihat sangat berminat untuk melibatkan diri dalam bidang sistem kawalan robotik. Dr. Elmi bin Abu Bakar selaku penasihat kumpulan ASRO juga telah menghadiri majlis tersebut bersama dua orang pelajar siswazah iaitu saudara Muhammad Zaim bin Mohamed Pauzi dan saudara Muhammad Faisal bin Mahmod.
