USM Hosts Third Aerospace Engineering Study Program for Students from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China

The School of Aerospace Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is proud to have successfully hosted the Aerospace Engineering Study Program for the third time from January 13th to 22nd, 2025. This program welcomed 26 undergraduate and postgraduate students from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), China, along with their delegate, Dr. Zhang Chun. The program was officially opened by our Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elmi Abu Bakar, and concluded by the Deputy Dean of Academic, Career and International, Ir. Dr. Hussin Mamat.

Building on the success of its first and second iterations in January and July 2024, this program has solidified itself as a key collaborative initiative between USM and NPU. Coordinated by Dr. Zhou Ye and Dr. Ho Hann Woei, this edition continued to focus on cutting-edge advancements in aerospace engineering, particularly in advanced aeronautical technology and aerial robotics.

The program featured a series of lectures and workshops led by distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Farzad Ismail, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zulfaa Mohamed Kassim, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norizham Abdul Razak, Dr. Nurul Musfirah Mazlan, Dr. Mohd Shukur Zainol Abidin, Dr. Chang Wei Shyang, Dr. Zhou Ye, and Dr. Ho Hann Woei. These sessions offered participants invaluable insights into the latest trends and research in aerospace engineering.

Hands-on activities and interactive sessions provided students with practical knowledge, ensuring an immersive and rewarding experience. Beyond academics, participants explored Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

The success of this program would not have been possible without the dedication of the organizing committee members, including Nor Hasnira Harun, Mohd Najib Mohd Hussain, Rahayu Dorahim@Abdul Rahim, Mohd Shukri Soaid, Mohd Fauzan Jali, Abdul Rashid bin Man, and others, whose efforts ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all participants.

As USM continues to host this impactful program, we are confident that it will further contribute to the academic and personal growth of all involved while promoting international collaboration in aerospace engineering.
