Aerospace Industry

The aerospace industry in Malaysia has grown tremendously from about 15 companies and institutions in 1997, to more than 150 in 2015 with the total revenue of approximately RM11 Billion. These numbers have grown to more than 200 companies with the revenue of RM19 Billion in 2019 , and projected to grow by more than double in the next 10 years, with investments both from inside and outside of Malaysia.

There has been remarkable supports from the government throughout the beginning and the growth of the industry in Malaysia, through formal efforts such as the Malaysia Aerospace Council (MAC), the National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO), and the Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC). The long-term planning for aerospace industry in Malaysia is guided by the Malaysia Aerospace Blueprint 2030 .

Through these and many other efforts, the ecosystem of and investment on the aerospace industry in Malaysia has been growing steadily over the years that many large multinational companies, such as Airbus, Collins Aerospace, Spirit AeroSystems, Rolls-Royce, and Honeywell, have built their presence here in Malaysia. Equally exciting are the growths of our own Malaysian companies establishing their professional presence not only in Malaysia, but also internationally, in the aerospace and aviation industry. Some of them are well-known companies such as AirAsia, CTRM, and Strand Aerospace Malaysia. The aerospace industry in Malaysia is strengthened further with the establishment of the Malaysian Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA), which represents the interest of this industry at various platforms, both nationally and internationally.

With such a strong ecosystem, there are plenty of wonderful employment opportunities in the aerospace industry for new graduates in Malaysia. You can explore further about the aerospace industry in Malaysia from the official website of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA). Moreover, our SAE graduates are not limited to working in Malaysia only. Many have found other excellent opportunities to work in other countries, such as in Singapore, Europe, Japan, Middle Eastern countries, and many others.
