DR. ASLINA ANJANG AB RAHMAN

Dr. Aslina Anjang Ab Rahman is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia, specializing in composite materials. She holds a Ph.D. in Fire Structural Properties of Sandwich Composites from RMIT University, Australia (2015). Additionally, she earned her Master’s degree in Aeronautical Maintenance and Production from Ecole Nationale Superieure D’Ingenieurs de Constructions Aeronautiques (ENSICA), France (2007), and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Aerospace Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2001).

Dr. Aslina’s research focuses on the behavior of composite materials under environmental conditions such as fire and temperature variations. She has secured six research grants as a principal investigator, leading projects on the fire properties of natural fiber sandwich composites, environmental durability studies, and the development of inorganic flame-retardant coatings for the building and construction industry. With over 50 peer-reviewed publications in respected journals such as Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, Composite Structures, and Advanced Composite Materials, Dr. Aslina has established herself as a dedicated researcher in her field.

In her teaching role at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Dr. Aslina has made substantial contributions to education. She teaches courses on Strength of Materials, Aerocomposite Engineering, and Materials Behavior in Fire, incorporating innovative teaching methods like hands-on lab sessions and industry-related case studies. She has supervised 9 postgraduate students, including 6 Ph.D. students and 3 Master’s students, with 4 students successfully graduating under her mentorship.

Beyond her teaching and research, Dr. Aslina is deeply engaged in professional and academic service. She has chaired numerous training courses on composite materials, served on the committee for the Aeromech Conference, and is an integral member of the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Computational and Database System at both the departmental and university levels.

Throughout her career, Dr. Aslina has received numerous recognitions, including 10 awards for high-impact journal publications between 2014 and 2022, along with the Excellence Service Award in 2015.

Outside of academia, Dr. Aslina is committed to community outreach, particularly in promoting STEM education, and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of aerospace engineers.
