Research Background

Dr. Mohd Shukur bin Zainol Abidin is a Senior Lecturer and core researcher at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He completed his B. Eng in Mechanical-Aeronautics from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia before advancing to Imperial College London, UK, where he received his Master's in Composite Materials and subsequent Ph.D. His primary expertise covers the processing and extensive characterization of thermosetting and thermoplastic composite systems, fractography via optical and scanning electron microscopy, and advanced nanomaterials optimization.

Current Research Topics

  • Development of wind turbine blades utilizing high-performance bio-composites
  • Development of crash-resistant car bumpers based on bio-composites and structural hybrids
  • Constituent measurements and mechanical properties analysis of natural fiber-reinforced composites
  • Development of robust and repeatable production methods for high-quality natural and glass fiber-reinforced hybrid composites
