Research Background

Dr. 'Aiffah binti Mohd Ali is a Senior Lecturer and specialized communications systems researcher at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She earned her B.Eng in Communication from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), followed by an M.Sc in Electronic Systems Design Engineering from USM. She then achieved her Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. Her principal area of research highlights satellite communications architectures and modeling radio wave ionospheric scintillation, explicitly concentrating on ionospheric vulnerabilities that impact modern Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) within commercial aviation routing frameworks.

Current Research Topics

  • Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in Aviation: Assessing Ionospheric Threats at Low Latitudes
  • A Systematic Analysis of Amplitude Scintillation on an Aviation Receiver using a Spirent Hardware Simulator
  • Ionospheric Scintillation monitoring and modeling parameters across sub-tropical airspace configurations
