Research Background

Dr. Aslina is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research focuses on composite materials, fire performance of composites, and sustainable natural fibre-based materials. Her work includes the development, characterisation, and testing of composite materials, intumescent coatings, and flame-retardant systems for improved thermal, fire, and structural performance. Her current research also explores the use of local natural fibres such as kenaf in sustainable composite manufacturing for aerospace and engineering applications.

Current Research Projects

  • Damage assessment, testing, and characterisation of composite structures
  • Fire performance of composite materials under realistic loading constraints
  • Development of intumescent and flame-retardant coating systems for passive fire protection
  • Sustainable bio-composites and structural eco-hybrids framework
  • Kenaf-based materials for sustainable composite manufacturing pathways
