Research Background
Dr. Syazana Basyirah Mohammad Zaki is a Lecturer at the School of Aerospace Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She completed her B. Eng. in Electronics at Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) and her M.Sc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at USM, focusing on X-band microwave systems. She later earned her Ph.D. in Engineering through the Space Engineering International Course (SEIC) at the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. During her Ph.D., she was heavily involved in the development and in-orbit operations of UiTMSAT-1, Malaysia’s first educational 1U nanosatellite, managing UNOOSA registration, flight model testing, and JAXA safety standard compliance. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Syazana spent over three years in the space industry as a Space Systems Engineer and Head of Mission Administration, Policy, and Compliance at AngkasaX Innovation, leading satellite constellation mission analysis, global ITU filings, and international frequency coordination.
