The Rising Demand for Satellite Communication : How Space-In is Meeting the Needs of Businesses in Southeast Asia

Dr Norilmi Amilia Ismail CEO

SpaceIn , a Malaysian spacetech start-up, is developing a picosatellite for IoT communication via satellite communication, aiming to tackle issues faced by the IoT industry, such as poor communication in remote areas, high costs of satellite communication and regulatory hurdles.
The agriculture and telecommunications industries in Southeast Asia have been growing rapidly, creating an opportunity for satellite solutions around the IoT industry. The size of the ASEAN spacetech industry can be estimated based on the space budgets of each country and the size of industries that can benefit from space technology.
For example, the satellite communication market is expected to reach $14.32bn by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 7.1% for a five-year forecast (2020-2025).
SpaceIn has received a lot of interest from potential customers for its satellite IoT services in agriculture, oil and gas, asset tracking, management and transportation industries, with its low-cost satellite service providing businesses with more opportunities to access and leverage the benefit of satellite technology.
