Career Talk by Spirit AeroSystems 9Spirit AeroSystems visited the USM School of Aerospace Engineering to deliver a career talk to undergraduate and postgraduate students from both the School of Aerospace Engineering and the School of Mechanical Engineering.

Career Talk by Spirit AeroSystems 1The career talk kicked off with a warm welcome from Deputy Dean of Academic, Career & International, Assoc Prof Dr Ahmad Zulfaa Mohamed Kassim. This career talk centered on two main topics:

1. Working at Spirit AeroSystems: This segment provided attendees with an overview of the various engineering positions available at Spirit AeroSystems. The representatives discussed job scopes, expectations, and the impact of engineers on aircraft safety, industry sustainability, and market demands.
2. Collaboration & Talent Development: This segment introduced the Undergraduate Apprentice Program (UGAP), a unique initiative designed for USM engineering students. The UGAP offers students the opportunity to intern at Spirit AeroSystems throughout their four-year study period, thereby equipping them with significant industrial experience by the time they graduate.

Career Talk by Spirit AeroSystems 4After the talk, students participated in an interactive quiz focused on the technical knowledge of the aerospace manufacturing industry. The top 15 scorers were awarded exclusive merchandise from Spirit AeroSystems, adding an engaging and competitive element to the event.

Career Talk by Spirit AeroSystems 7Following the quiz, a Q&A session was held where students showed keen interest by asking pertinent questions to the representatives. Before the event concluded, students were given the opportunity to see and feel the actual aircraft parts manufactured by Spirit AeroSystems. This hands-on experience provided a tangible connection to the topics discussed during the talk.

Career Talk by Spirit AeroSystems 8The session culminated in presentation of token of appreciation ceremony where Deputy Dean of Research Innovation & Industry-Community Engagement, Assoc Prof Dr Elmi Abu Bakar, presented souvenirs to the representatives from Spirit AeroSystems. This was followed by a memorable photograph session.

The event was highly informative and beneficial, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of potential career paths in the aerospace industry.
