WELCOME ABOARD, NEW AEROSPACE INNOVATORS 2026/2027!

24 September 2026 - The School of Aerospace Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) officially welcomed its new intake of students for the 2026/2027 Academic Session during the Sambutan Siswa Lestari on September 24, 2026!
The day kicked off early at 8:10 AM with student registration, followed by the national anthem Negaraku and USM’s Menara Ilmu. Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elmi Abu Bakar set a high-thrust tone for the morning with an inspiring welcome address, encouraging students to fly high, innovate, and shape the future of aviation and space.

Right after, the entire community gathered at the School Foyer and Radar Base for a memorable group photo session.

The morning sessions provided valuable guidance to help our new students navigate their academic journey. Dr. Aslina Anjang Ab Rahman introduced the Student Development Program to highlight student initiatives and global exposure opportunities.
Next, Deputy Dean of Academics, Ir. Dr. Hussin Mamat, covered essential academic guidelines—including discipline, CPC implementation, licensed software usage, and plagiarism standards.
Program Chairman Dr. Mohd Shukur Zainol Abidin then shared a detailed overview of the Aerospace Engineering curriculum, concluding the morning with a session for students to meet their designated Academic Advisors before breaking for lunch.

In the afternoon, students got their first real taste of life in aerospace during the "Explore and Discover" session. Visiting the labs and engaging directly with staff and senior peers in the Aero community gave everyone an exciting look into the hands-on research and projects ahead.
The event wrapped up at 5:00 PM, leaving our new intake fully energized to dream big and reach for the stars. Welcome to the USM Aerospace family! 🚁🛰️🎓
